When you adventure out, Baja abounds with restaurants, shops, galleries. Less than one mile south of Bobby’s Baja is
Puerto Nuevo, the famous Lobster Village with dozens of open air shops and lobster of course! There are a host of day and nighttime activities all year round.
Shopping – So many wonderful choices! In 10 minutes by the free road you are on the way to Rosarito with hundreds of
art, silver, clothing, ceramics, sculpture, furniture, stone, iron shops and more for miles. Starting at Fox Studios (K32.8 on the free road) to the south of Rosarito and continuing north through town, you will find local artists, treasures and craftsmen as well as pieces from all over Mexico. Stores in Rosarito like Accents de Mexico and Fausto Polanco (about a mile north of the Rosarito Beach Hotel on the east side of the street) bring in crafts, art and furniture from Guadalajara the artistic capital of Mexico.
Drive 30 south minutes to Ensenada and a world of gourmet foods, wine and art are waiting for you. Downtown has a wonderful variety of furniture shops like Muebles la Mision, cafés and hidden finds like organic food markets, cheese shops and fresh seafood markets.
Dining – Where to begin? Bobby’s Restaurant of course for its super fresh, great quality food! There are so many great restaurants from Tijuana to Ensenada that discovering them is half the fun. Everything from great street tacos to elegant dining is on the menu!
Try Chela’s or Ortega’s #2 in Puerto Nuevo “Lobster Village” two favorites of the “full timers” or Tapanco Rosarito where
you get organic beef and lamb raised on the owners ranch. In Rosarito one of the many fine restaurants not to miss is Suzanna’s, a charming gourmet restaurant with an exhibition style kitchen, wonderful service and Suzanna of course, an
expert of fine Mexican wines.
In Ensenada, the choices are extensive but Sunday brunch at Punta Morro with waves crashing on the rocks is an
experience. If you only dine at one restaurant make it Sano’s Steak House where the atmosphere, food and attention to
detail are unmatched. Be sure and treat yourself to dessert outside on the patio by a roaring fire. Their excellent desserts and coffee complimented by service in a heat cup with warm cream. They think of everything!
Nightlife - Baja has a variety of fun night time things to do. Bobby’s Restaurant has entertainment in the bar on Saturday night, local bands play music from the 60’s 70’s, 80’s at cantina’s from Rosarito Beach to Ensenada. From karaoke at Las
Rocas Lounge to one of the best duets you have ever heard doing the music of the Beatles, Phil Collins and Elton John in Sano’s bar at Sano’s in Ensenada, to high-tech discos in Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada; there are entertainment finds for everyone.
Golf - Play golf at Bajamar, an oceanfront 27-hole course 20 minutes south of Bobby’s or drive 20 minutes north to Real Del Mar, an 18-hole course with ocean views of the Coronado Islands.
Surfing - Dozens of great surf spots dot the Baja Gold coast. Everything from Raul’s K41 just 1 minute away, gentle beach breaks like K38 to Hawaii size waves off Todo Santos Island, a short boat ride from Ensenada. Check out Surf’s Up Baja for all the good spots.
Beach Activities - The beaches of Baja are waiting for you. Just 2 minutes from Bobby’s there is beach access to the famous “RAUL’S” surf spot. Take a drive south to La Fonda where the beach is spectacular, the restaurants are legendary and the
wind surfers fly by while you dine. The flat sandy beaches of Rosarito and La Mision host horseback riding right along the surf.
Fishing - Grab your fishing rod and find a spot at any beach in Baja – no license required. For ocean fishing, Puerto Salinas
